Groupe Laperriere wins two contracts in China

MONTREAL

Industrial processing technology company Groupe Laperriere & Verreault Inc. has won two new contracts in China worth $16.3 million.

The Montreal-based company said its Dorr-Oliver Eimco process division was recently awarded the two new large-scale contracts for Chinese alumina and lube oil refineries.

Between now and August, Groupe Laperriere will deliver filters and thickeners as part of the expansion of an alumina refinery. The refinery is based in Zhengzhou and is owned by Aluminum Corp. of China, the country’s biggest maker of the lightweight industrial metal.

Laperriere said it has done business with the Chinese aluminum maker for several years and recently finalized another large-scale contract for the company’s alumina refinery in Shanxi.

Alumina is the building block mineral extracted from bauxite and used to produce aluminum metal.

In addition, a U.S. multinational has awarded Dorr-Oliver Eimco a contract to supply zero-emission crude oil dewaxing technology and related equipment, intended for a lube oil refinery in Fushun.

Richard Verreault, executive vice-president and chief operating officer, said the company has won more than $50 million in contracts in Asia since the beginning of the current fiscal year, “primarily in the promising Chinese market where the company has undertaken to strengthen its presence in the mining, industrial, pulp and paper and water treatment sectors.”

Founded in 1975, Groupe Laperriere is a world leader in liquid-solid separation technologies used in a large number of industrial, municipal and environmental processes.

It also provides equipment to treat drinking water and wastewater as well as industrial technology for pulp and paper production.

The company employs nearly 1,400 people and operates around the world.
