TransCanada to build $200M gas storage facility

CALGARY

TransCanada Corp., one of the country’s largest pipeline companies, has announced plans to build a $200-million natural gas storage facility near Edson, Alta.

The storage facility will have a capacity of approximately 50 billion cubic feet and connect to TransCanada’s Alberta system.

“The Edson facility strengthens our position in the natural gas storage business and will enhance Alberta’s position as a major natural gas hub in North America,” Hal Kvisle, TransCanada’s chief executive, said in a statement.

TransCanada is an energy company focused on natural gas transmission and power services with a network of 41,000 kilometres of pipeline.
