Canam unit wins bridge project

BOUCHERVILLE, Que.

A division of Canam Group has won a $4.5-million contract to build two bridges in New Brunswick.

Canam’s Structal-Bridges unit will build two bridges over Jewetts Creek in Fredericton, New Brunswick’s capital, the company reports.

The Quebec company said the contract was awarded by the general contractor for the project, Fundy Contractors Ltd., of St. George, N.B., and is worth an estimated $4.5 million.

The bridges will be built at Structal’s Quebec City plant, starting in March, and will be erected between September and November.

Canam Group designs and fabricates construction steel, with 3,000 employees at plants in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Romania and India.
