Hungry West calls for more restaurants

TORONTO

Prime Restaurants Royalty Income Fund, the owner of the East Side Mario’s and Casey’s chains, says expansion in Western Canada and Quebec is definitely on the menu for 2006.

The Mississauga, Ontario based fund is establishing a new western management team to accelerate expansion in that booming market.

“We plan to add approximately 30 new restaurants in Western Canada over the next few years,” CEO John Rothschild said on a conference call.

East Side Mario’s will renovate 13 locations.

“We are also evaluating further expansion in Quebec to capitalize on the popularity of casual dining in that province,” Rothschild said.
