Program designed for Canadian newcomers

TORONTO

The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) is undertaking a pilot mentoring project for internationally trained professionals.

Reportedly the first of its kind in the architectural field in Canada, the project will assist newcomers in job-search activities in the province.

The association is seeking volunteers to sit on an advisory committee to guide the project, which is being funded by the Ontario government.

Last year, the OAA’s governing council directed staff to develop programs and partnerships with other organizations to assist integration of internationally trained professionals into the workforce.

The pilot program is scheduled to run until next March.

The OAA regulates the practice of architecture in the province.
