Ready, Set, Lift

Glass installation continues at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto for the new theatre and multi-purpose room in Scarborough, Ont. Construction manager Vanbots Construction Corp. began the three-storey project in December 2004 and completion is scheduled for July.

The Project Team

The Chinese Culture Centre theatre and multi purpose room was designed by Louis K.C. Cheung Architect Inc. and it is sponsored by the Chinese community, local businesses and government. Consultants are Yolles (structural); and Ellard-Willson Engineering Ltd. (mechanical/electrical). Subtrades include: Ragno Excavating; Drillco Foundation Co. Ltd. (shoring/caissons); Hardrock Forming Co.; Gilbert Steel Ltd. (rebar supply); St. Marys CBM (concrete supply); Bernel Masonry; Decoral Painting; System Drywall; Bering Mechanical Ltd.; Interborough Electric Co.; General Sprinklers Inc. (fire protection); Donalco (fireproofing); Schindler Elevators Corp.; Joel Theatrical Rigging; Bothwell-Accurate Co. Ltd. (roofing/damp proofing); and AGS Contract Glazing Ltd. (windows).
