Delays hit courts

LONDON

Two contractors involved in building Wembley Stadium faced off in London’s High Court in a case to decide who is responsible for escalating costs and missed deadlines at the project.

The case involves Multiplex and Cleveland Bridge.

Each side charges breach of contract, with the case expected to last four weeks.

Construction on the 90,000-seat stadium has been repeatedly delayed and has raised questions about the ability of London to complete venues in time to host the 2012 Olympics. It was to be opened next month.
