Bridging The Gap

Work continues on the new Rideau Canal Pedestrian Bridge in Ottawa, Ont. General contractor R.W. Tomlinson Ltd., also doing excavation, formwork and paving, began the 80-metre long structure in June 2005 and completion has been scheduled for July. The bridge was designed and landscaped by Du Toit Allsopp Hillier Architects Ltd. and prime consultant is Delcan Corporation. Subcontractors include: Dufresne Piling Co. Ltd.; Foraction (directional boring); Ottawa Greenbelt (sewer and water); AGF-Raymond Rebar Inc.; FOG Metal (structural steel); St. Marys CBM (concrete supply); Key Stone Masonry; and Black & McDonald Ltd. (electrical).
