Widening of Highway 7 near Ottawa

OTTAWA

Road construction is underway as part of a three-phase plan to widen Highway 7 from Highway 417 to Carleton Place.

Construction work for the first project includes widening 8.6 kilometres of Highway 7 from two to four lanes between Highway 417 and Jinkinson Road to ease traffic congestion.

Westbound Highway 417 interchange will also be upgraded and a new bridge will be built at the Hazeldean Road interchange.

Tomlinson of Gloucester was awarded the $45-million construction contract.

Work is to finish by summer 2008.
