Waste Services buys two Florida landfills

BURLINGTON, Ont.

Solid waste services company Waste Services Inc. has agreed to pay $75 million for two construction and demolition waste landfills on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Burlington, Ont.-based Waste Services said the acquisitions from Southwest Land Developers Inc. and Pro Disposal Inc. will allow it to expand its operations in the region.

The deal includes a roll-off collection operation based in Collier County with two transfer stations, located in Naples and Ft. Myers, both permitted to accept construction and demolition waste and a demolition waste landfill in Charlotte County, with a permitted capacity of 15.8 million cubic yards.
