Deal signed for building $33M garage

VANCOUVER

Great Canadian Gaming Corp. has signed a deal to build a $33-million, 1,200-vehicle parkade beside its River Rock Casino in the Vancouver suburb of Richmond, integrated with a new rapid transit line.

Under the letter of intent, Canada Line Rapid Transit Inc. will transfer two hectares of land to Great Canadian, half of which will hold the parkade and will contribute $4.5 million to the constuction, expected to begin in mid-2007.

The parking spaces will be reserved on weekdays between 5:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. for users of the Canada Line, a rail transit development between downtown Vancouver and Vancouver International airport.

The land deal with Canada Line “will provide us with ownership of several large, contiguous and usable land parcels in River Rock’s immediate vicinity,” said company CEO Ross McLeod.
