Progress reported on construction of venues for 2010 Olympics
BEIJING
The head of the 2010 Winter Olympic organizing committee reported to the IOC board last Thursday on preparations for the Vancouver Games, citing “significant progress” in construction of venues.
“Every single day we are focused on moving the project forward in all key areas,” John Furlong said.
The IOC asked Vancouver to hold an IOC executive board meeting in late 2009, as is customary with host cities a year before the Olympics.
The Vancouver committee “warmly welcomed” the proposal.
