Two more associations join Canadian Construction Association
Board approves Canadian Ready-Mixed Concrete Association and Electrical & Utilities Safety Association of Ontario
VICTORIA
The Canadian Construction Association accepted two new member associations into its fold at its recent national conference.
CCA’s board of directors unanimously approved applications by the Canadian Ready-Mixed Concrete Association [CRMCA] and the Electrical & Utilities Safety Association of Ontario [E&USA].
Ron Schimpf, President of the CRMCA, informed the CCA in its application letter that his association is represented at CSA technical and strategic planning committees on a national basis and partners with both regional and provincial groups.
“As the general contracting industry is a major user of concrete, the CRMCA would like to become a partner with CCA as it addresses product, application, technology, legislation and sustainable development issues,” he wrote.
The E&USA was founded in 1915 and is the oldest health and safety association in Ontario. It has 900 member firms from generation activities such as oil, power and water distribution and telecommunications. The association also has 500 member contracting firms.
The E&USA provides health and safety consulting services, gap analysis, health and safety auditing services, ergonomic assessments, training needs assessments and safety oriented trades training delivery, explained Darlene Bedeck, Vice-President of E&USA corporate services, in its application letter.
The CCA reported a net gain of 489 new affiliate members between 2006 and 2007, reaching 15,122 from 14,633. In 2005 it had 13,852 member affiliates.
