Zechner joins Canadian Common Ground Alliance as CCA representative
Joins others from across Canada to push for one-call locates legislation
VICTORIA
Frank Zechner, Executive Director of the Ontario Sewer and Watermain Construction Association, has been selected as the Canadian Construction Association’s representative to the Canadian Common Ground Alliance.
The alliance has representatives from “Common Ground” organizations in each province. The mandate of the alliance is to push for a one-call legislation. Zechner’s selection was approved as this year’s CCA conference.
Zechner maintains the one-call system, when compared to the current system in Ontario, would make gathering information before digging much more efficient.
The Ontario Regional Common Ground Alliance [ORCGA] has developed 158 best-practices guidelines to help contractors before they dig. Having locates information and using best practice guidelines developed by the ORCGA for work around locates can help ensure a safe dig, the ORCGA says.
