Engineers’ society receives Ontario government training funds
TORONTO
The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) has received funding from the provincial government to develop and deliver special “bridge” training courses for internationally trained engineers.
The society said these courses will prepare engineers to write and pass the professional practice examination, which is required to obtain a licence in the province.
OSPE will assist internationally trained engineers by offering a tailored preparatory course. In addition to the required technical information, the course will address the Canadian cultural context of exam writing.
It will incorporate content relating to engineering and legal and ethical practices in the workplace. It also will address examination intimidation/stress reduction and exam study habits.
The first offering of the course, conducted as a pilot, is scheduled for January 2009 with a second pilot offered in September 2009.
