Operator injured as asphalt machine careers down St. John’s street

ST. JOHN’S, N.L.

A heavy-equipment operator is recovering from his injuries after a large asphalt grinder slid out of control down a steep street in St. John’s.

The cold milling machine slammed into a minivan and plowed through the front of a vacant house.

The grinder was on Victoria Street when it started skidding toward Bond Street and the driver jumped off.

The driver was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
