Nineteen workers die in Tehran building collapse
TEHRAN, Iran
Nineteen Iranian construction workers have been killed in the collapse of a dilapidated, seven-storey building in Tehran.
State radio and television say the labourers had been sleeping overnight in the building despite warnings from local authorities that the structure was unsafe.
They had been employed removing windows and doors ahead of the planned demolition of the structure.
Hours after the early morning collapse, rescuers sifted through rubble at the site in the Sa’adatabad district.
