Accidents prompt meeting of British Columbia’s construction-crane industry
VANCOUVER
Representatives of British Columbia’s construction-crane industry will be meeting with WorksafeBC in September to discuss safety procedures.
WorksafeBC spokesman Scott McCloy says that while the industry has a strong safety record, two recent crane incidents necessitated the meeting.
McCloy says calls for a meeting went out after crane collapse last week snarled traffic on Highway 1 in Surrey.
Also last week, a North Vancouver worker was sent to hospital with unknown injuries after an accident involving a load caught on a dock. The man fell 10 metres.
That accident occurred at Vancouver Pile Driving, the same company that operates the crane involved in the Surrey incident.
