Pennsylvania’s black contractors, workers rally to demand equal opportunities

HARRISBURG, PA.

A Harrisburg-based organization that supports equal work opportunities for black contractors and construction workers rallied to deliver a message that not enough minority firms are being hired for tax-funded projects in Pennsylvania.

Ten black-owned contractor firms in the American Minority Business and Contractors Association (AMBCA) gathered in Harrisburg to send a message to government leaders and construction companies that they are not hiring enough minority firms for tax-funded projects, or are not hiring black workers because they have criminal records, the Central Penn Business Journal reports.

The rally is the first in a series of events aimed at raising awareness about the lack of opportunities for black contractors and construction workers.
