Nine Nova Scotia communities receive funds to upgrade water systems
TRURO, N.S.
The federal government and the province of Nova Scotia have announced $8.7 million in funding for nine Nova Scotia communities to upgrade their drinking water and storm water systems.
The money is slated to fund drinking water projects in Digby, Hebron, Middle Musquodoboit, Cornwallis Park, Truro, Bible Hill, Kings Municipality and Kentville.
The funding will also be used to improve the storm water system along Starrs Road in Yarmouth.
Peter MacKay, Minister of Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, made the announcement in Truro along with Nova Scotia Education Minister Karen Casey.
All projects must receive federal environmental assessment approval before construction begins.
