Salter Pilon Architecture nears completion of Georgian Manor working drawings

Salter Pilon Architecture Inc. of Barrie is completing the working drawings for a 280,000-square-foot affordable housing development in Penetanguishene.

Located at 82 Edward Street (at the corner of Sulky Drive), the Georgian Manor will offer 207 units of affordable housing for seniors.

Working with Ravens Engineer Inc. (structural designs) and MMM Group Inc. (mechanical and electrical designs), Salter Pilon Architecture expects the designs to be complete in fall 2008.

The $32-million project consists of two three-storey apartment buildings that will house long-term care, life lease, rental, assisted living units and garden homes. The development may also include a medical office and restaurant, but those plans have not been finalized.

The County of Simcoe plans to tender the project late fall 2008 for a late 2008 construction start date.
