Aecon wins $31.5 million Smiths Falls, Ontario hospital contract
Toronto
Aecon Group Inc. has been awarded a contract worth about $31.5 million for the re-development of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital in Smiths Falls, Ont.
Under the contract, Aecon will build a new 58,000- square-foot multi-level wing addition to the hospital.
Also included in the project is the renovation of 70,000 square feet of the existing hospital structure, and the reconfiguration of the exterior parking area. The project will be completed in three phases, with work beginning in September 2008, and a scheduled completion date of December 2010.
Aecon now has four hospital contracts underway, including work on the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, the Rouge Valley Health System in Ajax, and the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute in Toronto.
“This project is the most recent in a series of awards recognizing Aecon’s experience and expertise in the social infrastructure segment, and the strategic priority we are placing on this sector,” said Robert McDonald, President, Aecon Buildings.
