Town of Oliver presses on with plans for wine village

The town of Oliver is pressing on with plans for their long anticipated wine village.

Although the previous developer Bellstar cancelled their plans for the project, Oliver’s officials are busy preparing a comprehensive plan for the waterfront site.

Stantec Consulting and renowned winery architect Robert Mackenzie have been retained as consultants to engage the public and establish specific urban design guidelines for a future wine village.

Early plans envision a hotel, mixed-use condominium/retail buildings, a waterfront plaza and water tower, a public market, live/work units and commercial office space.

Further public meetings are scheduled for the fall to finalize the plan. It is anticipated that another private developer will purchase the site. A construction budget is unavailable at this time.
