Inquest scheduled in roofer’s death in Innisfil, Ontario
GUELPH
The Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Guelph Office, has announced that an inquest will be held into the death of roofer Michael Suto in 2006.
Suto, 22, died from injuries received during the course of his employment as a roofer at a new home construction site in Innisfil, Ont.
Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a worker dies as a result of an accident occurring at a construction project.
The inquest will review the circumstances surrounding Suto’s death and will explore issues relating to safety at construction sites. The inquest jury may make recommendations aimed at the prevention of similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last four days and will hear from approximately eight witnesses.
The inquest will begin Sept. 15, at the County of Simcoe Administration Centre, 1110 Highway 26, Midhurst.
