Materials get a lift at the Queen’s Centre Phase 1 project at the Queen’s University campus in Kingston, Ontario.
PCL crews work out at Queen’s Centre project in Kingston
General contractor PCL Constructors Canada Inc. began the Queen’s Centre Phase 1 project in March 2007. Completion has been scheduled for September 2009.
The four-storey facility will feature an aquatic centre, varsity gymnasium, fitness and weight centre and additional classrooms and lecture theatres.
The architects for the Queen’s Centre are Sasaki/Bregman + Hamann Architects/Shoalts and Zaback.
Consultants are Halcrow Yolles (structural); The Mitchell Partnership (mechanical); and Mulvey & Banani International Inc. (electrical).
Subcontractors include Restoration Environmental (demolition); Site Preparation Ltd. (excavation); Kimco Steel Sales (rebar supply); Beauce Atlas (structural steel); Bellai Brothers Construction (formwork); CBM (concrete supply); A. Santin Masonry; Modern Niagara (mechanical); The Plan Group (electrical); AG Flat Glass (interior glass); and Ottawa Valley Glass.
Also on the list of subcontractors are Amherst Roofing; Probel (roof anchors); Kone Inc. (elevators); Gymcon (athletic flooring); Westpointe Construction (wood athletic flooring/squash/racquetball courts); Hollandia Gardens (pool equipment); Covertite (Kingston) (exterior zinc cladding); ITR Acoustique (drywall); National Coatings (painting); Gem Campbell Eastern (ceramic); and ALC/UCC Site contractors (asphalt/paving).
