DCN election poll puts Stephen Harper’s Conservatives out in front

Several polls leading into the recent English and French language federal leader debates staked the Conservatives to comfortable 10 point or more leads over the Liberals.

On Thursday, Oct. 2, after the French language debate, in the Daily Commercial News’ (DCN) online reader poll via its website, Conservatives were perched in the lead with 41 per cent in online support, the NDP second at 32 per cent, followed by the Liberals at 16 per cent, Green Party eight per cent and Bloc Quebecois two per cent.

There was a small shift in the DCN online poll on Friday, October 3, 2008, after the English language debate. Conservative support dropped to 40 per cent, the NDP fell to 30 per cent and the Liberals gained two points to 18 per cent.

The Green Party rose to nine per cent and the Bloc Quebecois were up to three per cent in online support.
