Developers order Vancouver 2010 Olympic village review

VANCOUVER

The lead designer for the Olympic athletes village says he hopes public confidence in the landmark project isn’t being eroded by concerns about shoddy craftsmanship.

Roger Bayley says that’s why the developers have ordered a project review on some areas of the billion-dollar complex, even though they are confident the work is being done far above industry standard.

The review comes after union allegations that the units could wind up with mould or energy leaks because pipes were not being insulated properly.

But Bayley says the building is being finished according to rigorous specifications.
