Enbridge’s Ontario wind energy project to create 300 jobs

CALGARY

Enbridge Inc. and Renewable Energy Systems Canada Inc. (RES) have announced a partnership to develop a wind energy project in Ontario that would create 300 construction jobs.

The Talbot wind energy project in Chatham, Ont., will deliver energy to the Ontario Power Authority under a 20-year-purchase agreement after its is completed in December 2010.

The two companies have invested a total of approximately $285 million in the 99 megawatt project, with Enbridge holding a majority interest.

The project will be structured as a limited partnership owned by both companies with construction taken on by RES.

It will create an estimated 300 construction jobs and eight direct operation jobs.
