Heavy Construction Association donates to Providence Healthcare Mobility Clinic
TORONTO
The Heavy Construction Association of Toronto has contributed $125,000 toward the creation and operation of the Providence Healthcare Mobility Clinic in Toronto.
The clinic, which formally celebrated its opening last week, will help people recovering from a lower limb amputation or orthopaedic surgery to improve their physical abilities and restore confidence within a safe, professional, and compassionate environment.
The new facility helps people re-integrate back into their community, to take charge and manage their own health care and new lifestyles.
“In our business, workplace safety is always at the forefront, but accidents do happen,” said Aldo Paganelli, president of Toronto Zenith Contracting Limited.
“It’s good to know there’s a place like this where people can be prepared to get back to work — not just from a physical perspective, but through restoring confidence and independence too.”
The clinic helps people overcome fears by instilling a sense of confidence and independence. The state-of-the-art gymnasium includes a variety of rehabilitation equipment, a mock kitchen and laundry room for training purposes, and a Nintendo Wii Gaming system to strengthen muscles and enhance balance skills.
Therapists also help clients understand their injuries, their rehabilitation goals, and their achievements.
Providence Healthcare specializes in rehabilitation for patients who have experienced strokes, orthopaedic surgery, or lower limb amputation, or who require specialized geriatric rehabilitation, assessment and treatment.
