Armtec awarded concrete contract for Toronto subway line extension

Drainage pipe maker Armtec has been awarded a $43-million contract to help extend a subway line in the Toronto area. Armtec will supply precast concrete tunnel liner rings for the construction of the Toronto-York Spadina subway extension project.

The extension will run between Downsview station in Toronto, through York University and to a terminal station in Vaughan, Ont.

The 18-month project is set to begin in August 2010. "This contract is the single largest award in the Armtec’s history and was due in part to our ability to demonstrate our industry position as a leading national precast concrete service provider to customers with large-scale infrastructure projects across the country," said Charles Phillips, Armtec’s president and chief executive officer.

Armtec is a maker and marketer of drainage products and engineered solutions for infrastructure applications.
