Ontario labour ministry to conduct inspection blitz of swing stages
Will look for compliance with fall protection requirements
Ontario's Ministry of Labour will conduct what it calls an enforcement blitz of suspended platforms at construction sites following a Christmas Eve tragedy in Toronto.
Four men died and a fifth remains in critical condition after they fell 13 storeys to the ground when the swing stage they were on snapped in the middle.

Inspectors will fan out to construction sites across the province to check for hazards involving suspended platforms, and the ministry says they will have zero tolerance for non-compliance.
They will look for compliance with fall protection requirements, including appropriate fall-related equipment and worker training.
Labour Minister Peter Fonseca says he will decide what further steps need to be taken after getting the inspection report back in 90 days.
The accident killed migrant workers Aleksey Blumberg, Fayzullo Fazilov, Alexander Bondorev and Vladimir Korostin. The fifth worker, Dilshod Marupov, remains in hospital.
