Construction continues on Evergreen Brick Works building in Toronto

Work continues on the Evergreen Brick Works building at 550 Bayview Ave. in Toronto. Construction manager Eastern Construction Co. began the work in February 2009 and completion is scheduled for summer 2010.

The new facility will be an environmental community centre with a native plant and garden centre, “green job” employment training programs, school programs, a nature play area for children, exhibits and farmers markets.

The architects for the project are du Toit Architects/Diamond and Schmitt Architects/E.R.A. Architects.

Consultants are Halsall Associates (structural) and Stantec Consulting (mechanical/electrical).

Subtrades include: Priestly Demolition; Excon Construction (excavation); Atlas Dewatering; Deep Foundations Contractors Inc. (shoring/caissons); C & T Reinforcing Steel Co. (1987) Ltd.; Long Valley Construction (formwork); Prestressed Systems (precast); Norak Steel (structural steel); Dufferin Concrete; Limen Group (masonry); Urban Mechanical; OZZ Electric; Paul & Douglas Sprinklers (fire protection); Barrie Glass; Inline Fiberglass; Kone Inc. (elevators); and Ritz Metal (roofing/siding).
