EllisDon helps out Sunnybrook cancer care centre
MISSISSAUGA
EllisDon and its subtrades and suppliers are making a significant contribution to a cancer-centre addition to Toronto’s Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
A $2.7-million contract for the Wellspring Centre addition at Sunnybrook was awarded late last year.
Working in partnership with subtrades and suppliers, the company is donating about $1.7 million in labour, materials and services to assist Wellspring to continue offering its services to the growing number of people affected by cancer.
The 8,700-sq.-ft. addition, contains three finished levels that will be accessed by a hydraulic elevator and two oak stairwells. The addition will increase Wellspring’s programming and administration space to about 11,000 square feet.
“It has been terrific to see the enthusiasm with which EllisDon people, as well as many of our industry partners, have embraced this outstanding cause, both in terms of personal effort and hard cash,” said EllisDon CEO Geoff Smith.
“And the Wellspring team has been terrific to work with. We are extremely happy to be involved.”
