Ontario Road Builders’ Association launches green award
The Ontario Road Builders’ Association has announced a new green award to recognize efforts made by the industry to protect the environment.
The award criteria is to be finalized this year with submissions being called for this fall and the winner(s) recognized at the 2011 conference.

“We are more than just construction,” ORBA outgoing president Tom O’Callaghan said in an interview with Reed Construction Data during the association’s annual convention in Toronto earlier this month.
“We recognize the sustainability requirements out there - we do a tremendous amount of work as an industry to maintain and protect the environment and now we’re going to award all those people who are (making) that extra effort.”
Carpenters’ union official Ucal Powell named to Order of Ontario
The Province of Ontario appointed Ucal Powell, Executive Secretary Treasurer of the Carpenters’ District Council to the Order of Ontario. Powell was recognized for building a world-class apprenticeship program and earning a reputation as a giving and compassionate organization, with the Order of Ontario.
