WSIB report a clear response to ideas we submitted, Ontario General Contractors Association chief says
The head of the Ontario General Contractors Association is praising a report from Workers Safety & Insurance Board chair Steven Mahoney that looks at ways to reform the WSIB.
“What we saw in the report is clearly a response to what we submitted,” said Clive Thurston, who chaired the task force that presented a series of recommendations to Mahoney.
“The idea of setting up advisory councils is excellent ... and David Marshall’s appointment (as president) is certainly a step in the right direction, as well.”
Thurston, interviewed at the Ontario Construction Secretariat’s state of the industry conference March 3 in Toronto, went on to discuss the importance of eliminating the unfunded liability.
“We’re going to have to take some serious steps, some of them we’re not all going to like, he said, “but we’re going to have to do what we’re going to have to do to get this under control.”
Carpenters’ union official Ucal Powell named to Order of Ontario
