Slovak construction minister sacked amid corruption scandal

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia

Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic has fired the country’s construction minister amid a corruption scandal. An investigation revealed Igor Stefanov’s office misused at least $43,500 in a public tender.

His party denied any wrongdoing and backed Stefanov who refused to step down.
