TIO Networks wins Florida toll service contract

VANCOUVER

TIO Networks Corp. has made an agreement with Florida Turnpike Enterprises to provide electronic payment services for its toll roads.

The Canadian company will handle the processing of payments made using SunPass transponders, which are linked to travellers credit cards.

TIO said it would also become a participant in the state’s new “Toll-By-Plate” program, which would capture images of vehicles without transponders and bill the associated driver.

The company said it would handle payments through several designated payment locations, an agreement it would share with the networks of two other companies selected by the Florida Department of Transportation.

The move would completely automate the toll process and eliminate the need for cash payments.

“We are pleased to work with an industry leader like TIO Networks to provide a new experience for our SunPass customers,” said Richard Nelson, director of toll operations at Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise.
