Flint Energy Services wins oil sands maintenance contract

CALGARY

Flint Energy Services Ltd. says its 50 per cent-owned maintenance company was the successful bidder for oil sands maintenance contracts with Nexen Inc. worth an estimated $95 million over three years.

Flint Transfield Services, known as FT, will provide electrical and instrumentation services and mechanical maintenance at Nexen’s Long Lake oilsands plant, southeast of Fort McMurray.

Flint said that work will begin later this year and continue through 2013.

Long Lake is the first oilsands project in the region to combine advanced technologies that enable the recovery of deep bitumen, underground with the ability to generate fuel gas and hydrogen on-site to power bitumen recovery and upgrading to produce synthetic oil.
