Industry jobs promised by campaigning New Brunswick premier

BATHURST, N.B.

New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham is promising to create 2,700 jobs in northern New Brunswick if his Liberals form government again after the Sept. 27 election.

Graham says his party’s strategy includes an emphasis on development of modular fabrication and component construction industries.

He says training in those areas would be increased at community colleges in northern New Brunswick.

He says a Liberal government would also ensure there is proper infrastructure at rural airports and the ports in Dalhousie, Belledune and Bas-Caraquet.

Graham says his government would also continue to work with the federal government to upgrade highways in the area.
