Stantec to provide engeineering services for Samsung Grand renewable energy park

TORONTO

Environmental consulting and engineering design firm Stantec will provide various permitting, renewable energy approval, surveying and preliminary engineering services for the new Samsung Grand renewable energy park in Ontario’s Haldimand County.

Led by Samsung C&T Corp. and the Korea Electric Power Corp. , Samsung Renewable Energy will invest $7 billion to generate 2,500 megawatts of wind and solar power.

The facility will include a 140-megawatt wind farm and a 100-megawatt solar park featuring 400,000 interconnected solar photo-voltaic array panels. This project will contribute to the tripling of Ontario’s output from renewable wind and solar resources and provide clean electricity to households and businesses in Ontario.

Stantec said the park will be the world’s largest energy cluster combining wind and solar power.

Stantec’s multidisciplinary team will primarily be working on the project’s risk management, survey work and transmission system design, which will transfer the renewable energy to the Ontario electricity grid.
