Proposed British Columbia mine to get environmental assessment

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency announced it is working with the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office to take public comments on an open-pit mine construction project proposed by Pacific Booker Minerals Inc.

Pacific Booker is proposing to build the Morrison Copper-Gold Project about 65 kilometres northeast of Smithers and 35 kilometres north of the Village of Granisle, British Columbia. If approved, the firm would extract copper, gold and molybdenum.

The public comment period goes from July 27 through August 10, and parties can submit comments to either the CEAA or EAO. CEAA said Pacific Booker submitted an addendum to their existing application and environmental impact statement that describes changes to the project design and documents the potential environmental effects of all phases of the project.
