St. John’s, Newfoundland gets $10 million in provincial infrastructure funding

The City of St. John’s will put $10 million in recently-announced provincial funds towards a number of construction projects, including street rehabilitation, sanitary and storm sewer reconstruction. The Newfoundland and Labrador government announced Friday it is providing the money through the Municipal Capital Works program.

The City of St. John’s will manage the projects. The city will undertake sanitary and storm sewer reconstruction on Hoyles Avenue, and from Rennies River Bridge to Churchill Square (Phase 1) and from Churchill Square to Allandale Place (Phase 2).

It will also construct phases three and four of the North East Land Authority trunk sewer project from London Road to MacDonald Drive.

The sanitary sewer will be replaced at Dublin Road and an emergency overflow diversion at Dirty Brook in Goulds.

The Municipal Capital Works funds will also be used to upgrade Cemetery Road and place erosion protection measures at the parking area of The Battery.
