Carrick: Politics may be blocking return to economic normalcy

As interest rates have been reduced to record lows and deficit spending continues, politics has become important in the current economic climate.

Although people in the developed world are being asked to lower their expectations, voters are not used to being asked to sacrifice anything.

What it comes down to is whether or not voters believe they need to alter their goals.
