VIDEO: Council of Ontario Construction Associations identifies election issues
As the provincial election date nears, the Council of Ontario Construction Associations is pleased that the three major political parties have similar approaches to infrastructure spending.
COCA president Ian Cunningham says the economy should be the central focus of the provincial election campaign, and there are ways the government can help the industry without spending additional money.
Cunningham is calling for a reform of the Construction Lien Act with prompt-payment legislation, which would provide contractors with holdback funds sooner.

Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Waterloo a “pressure cooker”
1,900 students from across Ontario competed in 63 career fields at the 23rd annual Ontario Technological Skills Competition (OTSC) in RIM Park and Manulife Sportsplex in Waterloo. Most gold medal winners will advance to the Skills Canada National Competition in Edmonton May 13 to 16. Winners will form Team Canada to participate in the 2013 WorldSkills International Competition in Leipzig, Germany.
