Ontario General Contractors Association presents EllisDon’s Geoff Smith with Jock Tindale award

EllisDon Corp. announced its chief executive officer, Geoff Smith, received the Jock Tindale Memorial Award from the Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA) at a dinner Saturday.

OGCA created the award in 1998 to recognize individuals who have demonstrated a high standard of ethics and integrity in dealing with owners, consultants, other contractors, subcontractors and fellow employees.

Smith is the son of EllisDon founder Don Smith.

“The selection of Geoff Smith for the Jock Tindale Award was made by the OGCA's awards committee, based on his continued influence, contributions and leadership, both within the OGCA and the industry at large,” OGCA president Clive Thurston stated in a press release. “His appearances as a speaker on issues affecting the industry are ample evidence of a fair and prosperous construction industry.”

John William (Jock) Tindale, who died in 1997, was chairman of the OGCA board of directors in 1992-93. He was also active in the London & District Construction Association, the Labour Relations Bureau and the Construction Safety Association of Ontario.

OGCA presented Smith with this year’s award at the Chairman’s Dinner at in San Francisco Oct. 15.
