Feasibility study commences for design, construction of Halifax art gallery

The Nova Scotia department of culture and heritage announced Friday that Lord Cultural Resources Inc. of Toronto has been awarded a $120,000 contract to conduct a feasibility study on the design, construction and management of a larger facility for the Halifax-based Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. Lord Cultural Resources, which works on planning services in the museum, cultural and heritage sectors, is planning to work with WHW Architects, RBR Development Associates and A.L. Arbic Consulting on the study, which is expected to be complete by early spring. The study will begin Monday, Oct. 24.

Funding will be provided by the art gallery, the province and the federal government through Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).

The study will look at the costs of designing, constructing and managing a larger art gallery, plus the potential revenue and operating costs.
