Nova Scotia announces $2.25 million in exterior repairs to Dominion Building in Halifax

The Nova Scotia department of Communities, Culture and Heritage announced this week that the province will spend $2.25 million on repairs to the exterior of the Dominion Building in Halifax, which houses the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.

The work includes replacing the sandstone on the exterior walls. It began earlier this year with replacement of sandstone on the Hollis Street facade and will continue on the George Street side of the building.

The announcement is part of the Nova Scotia capital plan.

The Art Gallery has been at the Dominion Building, which was built before Confederation, since 1988. It is part of an historic block of buildings on Hollis Street that includes Province House.
