Carillion Canada progresses on Ontario Coroner’s building in Toronto

Façade work progresses on the Forensic Services and Coroner’s Complex at 1201 Wilson Ave. in Toronto, Ont.
Project manager Carillion Canada began the six-storey, design/build project with basement and mezzanine in August 2010 and completion has been scheduled for the end January 2013. The building will be the new home of the Centre of Forensic Sciences, the office of the Chief Coroner and the Coroner’s Courts. The 665,000-square-foot building will have laboratories on the east side, office space and site services on the west side and one level of staff parking underground.
The project was designed by Stantec Architecture Ltd. and McLaren, Wilson & Lawrie is lab architect. Consultants are: Crossey Engineering Inc. (mechanical) and Stantec Consulting (structural/electrical/civil/landscape); Subtrades include: York Excavating; BessCon (site services); Anchor Shoring & Caissons Ltd.; Geosolve (rammed aggregate piers); Salit Steel (rebar); Verdi Alliance Forming Inc.; Architectural Precast; M & G Steel (structural steel); CBM (concrete); Clifford Masonry; Marel Drywall/Capital Drywall; Modern Niagara Toronto Inc. (mechanical); Univex (electrical); Vipond (sprinklers/fire protection); Provincial Roofing; Ferguson Neudorf (curtainwall) and Schindler Elevators Corp.
