Ottawa approves Enbridge Bakken crude oil pipeline in Saskatchewan and Manitoba
The National Energy Board announced last Thursday it has approved Enbridge Bakken Pipeline Company Inc.’s proposed pipeline project in Canada.
Enbridge Bakken requested approval to build and operate a 123.4-km pipeline and a new pump station to transport crude oil from Steelman, Saskatchewan east to Cromer, Manitoba, where it would connect to the Enbridge Mainline.
It is expected to be in service in 2013. The separate U.S. segment of the pipeline is owned by Enbridge Pipelines (North Dakota) LLC. The intent of the pipeline is to take crude oil from Berthold North Dakota, to Cromer, Manitoba where crude oil can then access the mainline.
The Bakken oil formation is in parts of Montana, North Dakota and Saskatchewan.
NEB also gave Enbridge Bakken approval to acquire and operate Line EX-02, which is currently owned by Enbridge Pipelines (Westspur) Inc.
