Television renovation star Mike Holmes is starting a new show, Make It Right, and is looking for licensed plumbers, electricians, carpenters and a contractor/production supervisor to join his team.

Do you have what it takes to be part of Mike Holmes’ newest construction team?

Holmes is launching a new show and is looking for licensed tradespeople to be part of the crew.

The show, Make It Right, is about rescuing people from their broken houses and turning them back into homes.

Liza Drozdov, Director of Communications, the Holmes Group, said the show will return to the energy and passion and big rescues of Holmes on Homes.

“He wants to get back to saving homeowners from situations that they just cannot get themselves out of,” she said.

SMS Concepts is conducting the casting and is looking for a licensed plumber, a licensed electrician, a licensed carpenter and a contractor/production supervisor. Applicants can be men or women in their 20s to early 40s.

“Mike is a big, big supporter of women in the skilled trades, so it would be nice to have some qualified women out there too,” said Drozdov.

Applicants are required to submit a two-minute video of them working on a project and give their three most important tips when it comes to home renovation.

“Applicants should be their biggest personality, have a sense of humour and be fun and really give us a sense of themselves because we’re looking for the twinkle,” said SMS casting director Sue Skinner.

Drozdov said applicants have to be comfortable in front of a camera, but don’t have to have any previous acting experience.

“Having a camera on a workplace is intrusive, frustrating and distracting and it takes someone who isn’t going to be intimidated by that,” explained Drozdov.

She said the tradespeople chosen will gain an appreciation for a new industry.

“They’re not just doing the professional work they’re qualified to do, but they have that added element of the television production crew and they get free lunch,” she laughed. “It’s an added layer of interest.”

Unlike other home renovation shows that have a strict time budget, Holmes’ shows are at the mercy of the project.

“He’ll take open a wall and it’s all of a sudden gone from an eight-day job to a two month job. It’s a bit unpredictable,” said Drozdov.
